DEBAUCHERY

Here you get a very short interview with Thomas Gurrath from DEBAUCHERY. Unfortunately it is ... monosyllabic I think, and some questions are unaknowledged, therefore the following could be a little rough. Hmmm ...the heck with it, here we go!

Cheers you boozehound, I have your BIG BALL show on CMOA in still good remembrance. Do you grudge your fans the pleasure of alcohol or why have you destroyed a bottle of Whiskey all alone?

Hey, I don`t think I have drunk a whole bottle alone, but I can`t remember.

What is the state of play after the last years steeplechase through the German Yellow press?

Everything`s the same. Debauchery is still rockin`.

One of the songs of the new album is an direct result of it I think. “School Shooter”, or am I wrong?

Yes the theme is a result, but the song is about a fictive school shooter, not about me. So it`s nothing personal.

Is the mainstream not able to deal with the ironic and sarcastic depiction of violence?

Oh, the mainstream is able, some of the metal press are not.

Do you love your country with patriotism and stuff like that or do you have an disenchanted point of view?

I live in Germany, so my music is German Death Metal. But I`m no fan of Germany, I like US or UK more. Most things I like come from over there, films, books, tabletop, everything.

You have decided for the band against your job as teacher. Was it a decision from the heart or the brain? Have you ever had a real choice?

What do you think?

Ok, enough of that, let´s talk about “Germanys Next death Metal”. Is the new album BIG BALL with Death Metal sound?

It`s more like Death Metal with a Hard Rock sound. Just 2 Marshalls, very rough, no samples - like a Hard Rock production. But the music is metal.

Maybe you have thought about putting both bands in one pot? I mean in the musical way you have executed that step!

In fact I have separated the two bands last year, because they are too different.

How much Death Metal actually is involved with the album? Does it still play a role?

No more than before, but most influences come from Judas Priest, Metallica and Slayer.

What will you reply to your reviewers who see you again as similar to SIX FEET UNDER?

I don`t care anymore.

The album title is refreshingly swanky. Do you like puns?

Yes, like Back in Blood…

Please explain the title to the readers who have no idea about the German media environment!

It´s because of television and Germany`s next Top Model. But the title says more, it`s for Debauchery. Debauchery is German, and we play German Death Metal. It`s something different to Sweden Death or US Death Metal. It`s the Debauchery way.

What thought is behind the new album and how much tolerance do you expect from your fans?

I think all Debauchery maniacs will like the new album. The album has everything the band stands for: groove, the voice, blood and tits.

What the hell is “Zombie Blitzkrieg”? Zombies and flashes fit together like slugs and
rocketry!

There are two types of zombies. The slow ones and the fast ones. This is about the fast ones. The rage zombies destroy the US civilization in 2666. In a few days the state as we know it is gone. It`s a fast and hard strike, with zombies killing everything. Ok, it has not so much to do with the original Wehrmacht concept of Blitzkrieg, only the part of a hard and fast strike remains. But it sounds cool.

You like to play with sex and violence. And you have done it again this time. Am I right?

Yes, it`s obvious…

Do you describe your 7th studio album as a new chapter of the band?

No, not really. I tried to make a good album, and gave everything I could, but it`s no real new chapter. I always try to improve…

Last spot is yours!

Blood for the Blood God!!!

REPUKED

When I heard REPUKEDs´ “Pervertopia first time, I was absolutely disgusted of that punk – infested old school Death Metal with its morbid sound and puking noise. I had no choice than diving to the bottom of this cesspool to find out why it smells so damned irresistible. Down in the depth of this cloudy liquid I met Nicke (guit / vox) and we talked with bated breath. So enjoy it, if you can!

You CD is a permanent vocal barf reflex, you guys puke ad nauseam! Is it because you only eat sweet bread in Sweden? Or is it just about your bad taste in general?

Thanx! In Sweden it's religion to have breath that smells like death I figure, people from beyond has a real bad taste, so I agree. And we don't eat sweet bread, we eat mustard and jalapenos! Then you can sit for hours on the toilet burning your arsehole up! Puke and filth is the shit. Hello by the way! Hope you have a drunken night! Thin Lizzy in the stereo now! Very true evil death metal!!

How serious has a band to take the bandname in order to come to an result like “Pervertopia”?

We are pukin serious I have to say. No doubt about that. Repuked - Pervertopia, fits like a fist in the womb. We went to the toilet together and Pervertopia is the result of a marathon toiletshitting orgy some year ago. 38 hours we sat on our toilets. Playing, farting, decomposing, shitting, pissing, melting, puking, moaning, hating, masturbating etc etc. It was Repukeds best 38 hours ever! Good old times!

Sometimes the retching make me believe you want to intonate an forgotten Fulci film. Would it be possible and appealing for you?

Fulci flicks made some quality shit, we like! Death, zombies, violence. Torture us slowly, chop us up, burn us and then put us beneath the surface. We'll live. I'm sure. Jason did. We will make a film about it!

Puke, squirt, squish all in the way of legendary masters of insipidity AUTOPSY, IMPETIGO, NIHILIST, is this your way to honour your idols?

Nah, or maybe, at the same time it would be a shame to call the Pervertopia album an honour to bands like Autopsy, Impetigo etc, but again then it's the music we grew up listening too...so maybe it's a somewhat musically tribute to our idols even if it doesn't come close to their works what's so ever. I mean they are/were really the best death metal bands out there so we're just doing our thing and let's see how it's going. Can't compare us to such nasty bands but for sure we're inspired by them.

How do you create that atmosphere of painful screams in the depths of the purgatory, bloody walls in the cellars of the inquisition and the tangible presence of the beast?

Darkness and much time alone. We lock us up in the cellar, no way out. 56 days, no food only urine in plastic bags. Maybe some red wine...and when we're ready to record, the knife goes in, everywhere, and there you go! Evil piss vocal screams recorded! A bit bloody but so what...

By the way, who are the 4 torturers who are responsible for that mayhem?

Rob the slob - bass and pukin pukes shitting his vocals out. Maybe you can't but he can. Richard rimjob - guitar, solos, and vocals. spreading brown fingers all over the floor. pro! Nicke sheit - guitar and vocals. sniffing and pissing lurking and panties down. Kinky stage - drummer, vocals and breastfeeding the shit out of the black pear!

How many public toilets have you desecrated until an innocent victim was able to release this CD?

Shit, hard question. We did some time throughout Europe back in 2002 but I don't remember the nr of toilets we did.. Maybe it's about 457 toilets or something like that if we add up our results. We all like to shit, piss and puke in public toilets so...and we don't like to keep counting, only puking and cunting! But we met someone in a toilet in the Netherlands and the record deal was done!!

How important is punk on your rotted cemetery?

When I die, on the ceremony, there will be Necroskank in the speakers. Great punkband, Abscess style. Punk is the shit! If it wasn’t punk, Repuked would not exist. Simple as that. We're a punk band playing stinky punky riffs with a touch of death metal and doom along the side. Pretty simple stuff actually as you can hear on the album.

You write songs in totally rejection of the actual century! How important is your consequent attitude for your musical Pervertopia?

Pervertopia is the new century! We write songs we feel fit in under the Repuked flag and there's not so much else determines that. It's a lot of different genres mixed together in a nice bag of puke! Slow rot and fast rot...you name it!

To hook some riffs don´t cares you, because it is about the big picture, right?

We did the album the way we did and we don't care about pretty much anything else except everything. The songs on our album is so very different so we wanted the listeners to get as much out of the punk/death genre as possible. If you like punk, listen to our shit, if you like death metal, listen to our shit. Or if you like to you don’t have to listen just get drunk.

You deal with Sludge and Doom and musically minimalism, is this the magical formula for your funeral reception – cocktail?

Early Fleshcrawl, first album is the shit! There you got it, Death doom, speed, punk etc..So I guess we aren't the first. hehe. Yes we like to mix as much as possible and make it sound good. As good as we can and if we could get some whisky sour that would be great!...Oh I made myself one just right now! Cheers and puke!

If I would say, this is the album you have to play on a family celebration before the humped relatives have booze out the beer – inventory, would you share my opinion?

For sure! Maybe we could share an onion as well? It's also very appreciated in geriatric care homes.

The sound of “Pervertopia” is fresh like rancid grace compost. How many ghouls have you killed to get this authentic sound?

The hallways in the building where the death and violence studio is located is full of shit demons and gnarly ghouls. So every time we are going there we have to decapitate at least a dozen smelly undead corpses. Chainsaw death is the most efficient way to make our way through the hordes of excrement.

All reviews that I have read are full of praise and honour. What do you think about freaks who love cheap music and drunken puke noise? Do you really think they share your illness?

Hailz to the drunken bums! Everyone´s got the illness. Just have to search deep down in the throat with some sort of penis and you will find it. Sometimes it may take a day or even up to a year to find it but it's there for sure. Smelly and disgusting, It's like that small white thingy you got back in the mouth and when they pop out they look pretty but smell and taste like defecation.

What about the last and longest orgy “Toxic Constipation”? Is it just what remains of a excessive blood and guts fest, or is it a instrumental with a unknown mission?

Pretty much. We started playing and I think we could have been playing even to this very day but there was a power failure due to heavy drinking so we had to make it pretty short around 9minutes. It would have been better if the song was 365 days long. But you can't have it all. For our next album there will be a one year long song, if there is enough alcohol to keep us interested all the way through of course.

How will you celebrate your drinking spree with zombies, ghouls and vulture now? Will you spread the disease over Europe with public ostentations?

Yep, lets spread the filth. Europe, Asia, US you name it, we wanna go to Japan, and play our song “nuke the world”. Some new releases coming up later this year. Split 7" ep with Haemophagus on No Poser´s Please records with 2new songs, 7" ep on Slap bet records and two tribute albums, one Regurgitate and one Impetigo. Pretty sick shit! Keep a brown eye out for that!

Are you afraid, the stomach could be empty any day, all alcohol could be drunk and you have to get clean and out of ideas?

I’ve already been through that and I must say it was not a pleasure. Hospital, surgery, needles, chocolate mousse and dying people who actually died. Scary place. A dark place. Blood all over. I hope it won't happen again and I think it won't either but if it did, the world is an even more evil place than I imagined.

If you have to explain the philosophy of REPUKED, would it be enough to stick the finger in your throat? Or can you find a serious answer?

We just wanna play our musick constantly every minute on the hour with maybe a few interruptions for bathroom visits. That’s serious enough?

Last puke is yours (hope not)!

Thanks for the questions! Now it's time to enter the toilet for my daily bath, have a few drinks and hopefully get drunk as fuck!
Cheers, Nicke! http://www.repuked.tk/

OFFAL

OFFAL from BRAZIL have released their killer album “Macabre Rampages And Splatter Savages” last September via Black Hole Productions. This gory old school piece of friendly Death´n Grind terror has blown me away and I entrust it to all people who still love the whole AUTOPSY thing and to people who are into Giallo flicks with their unique European horror feeling. I have talked about that combination (and some more) with singer André and guitarist Tersis.

Tell me the story of OFFAL! Who had the idea for this band and why was the band born? What do we have to know about you guys?

André: Well, we start our activities late 2003 as a trio just playing some Autopsy’s covers and originally called ORGY IN EXCREMENTS (Autopsy’s Acts of the Unspeakable song homage). Some time later we start to do some own songs and when we got some good trax we decided that we must record that stuff! So, we did and I sent it just to some local friends, we really didn’t have any plans to put that stuff out as an official release or something else! Some months later my friend Renzo of I SHIT ION YOUR FACE start his label (The Hole Productions) and I sent him the stuff, so he said that would like to release it as your number one release! It was really awesome, so we start to produce the whole cover / layout and some months later our 1st full-length was finally out, Offal – S/t full-length CD – The Hole Productions, 2004. Later we got few line-up changes and recently we put out our 2nd full-length CD via Black Hole Productions, try to check it! A split MCD with BOWEL FETUS (The Hole Productions/2008), a split 7“ep with ANATOMIA (No Posers Please Records/2010) and a split maxi-single 12“LP with DECREPITAPH (Grind Block Records/2010) where also released and still available!

You had some new releases in 2010, tell me about!

Tersis: We have released a full-length called “Macabre Rampages And Splatter Savages” (Black Hole Productions/Brazil). We also released two splits with exclusive tracks from the same studio sessions: “Over There, Guts Everywhere” split 7”EP with Anatomia limited to 515 copies (No Posers Please/Norway) and “Bloodshed From Beyond” split 12” Maxi-single LP with DECREPITAPH limited to 500 copies (Grind Block Records/Italy).

Any special songs on “Macabre Rampages And Splatter Savages“ that you prefer?

Tersis: I like the whole album, of course, but I think “The Cold Grips of Death”, “Mortuary Waste”, “Onslaught of Dismemberment” and “Terrore in Giallo” are my favourites.

I like “Feast For The Dead”, but what song is best qualified to break some bones on stage?

Tersis: “Putr-essence” always make people crazy, but on our last gigs I notice that “Death’s Curse” was very qualified to break some bones...

What about “Terrore In Giallo”, is it more than an ordinary outro?

Tersis: The idea behind this track came to us before it was composed. We thought it was cool to mention those classic Italian movies with all that crime fiction and mystery. When I came with the riffs, we thought it could be an instrumental track with some samples from the movies. The positive aspect was that when we first played it on our rehearsals, we could feel that mystery atmosphere, so we decided to put it as the final track.

Who came up with the “GOBLIN” adaption. Give my readers, who have no idea about Giallo and Argento, some info about it!

André: Well, I’m always trying to get the sound tracks of some cult horror flix I’ve enjoyed, it’s not easy to find at all but… when I got to listen that Deep Red’s sound track I think that would be great to do a Death Metal version of some track of that mighty Goblin’s soundtrack, so… I said to Tersis about this plan, he enjoyed the idea and so we choose the track! He did the whole work on it, making the version for the original one and we got really surprised with the final result, AWESOME! Many people comment about it and ask us if we’ll do another soundtrack song but we still didn’t know what will be, we’ll choose it only when we start to work on some new stuff for a possible 3rd full-length CD, 2012 or later! The Italian term Giallo (Yellow) is a series of cheap paperback novels with trademark yellow covers about horror fiction and mysteries that inspired the directors to do the movies called Giallo. Dario Argento is one of the main early 70’s Italian movie directors who did some of the greatest and classic Giallo ever, some of them are THE CAT O' NINE TAILS (1971), PROFONDO ROSSO aka DEEP RED (1975), SUSPIRIA (1977), PHENOMENA aka CREEPERS (1985)... Other cult Giallo directors are Sergio Martino, Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava, try to check them and all their cult productions!

What about the “Trial Of The Undead” video? Give me some details about the shooting!

Tersis: We were invited by a local friend to shoot a video-clip for her design course. The team wanted to produce focused on Trash and Horror cinema in general, especially zombies. We immediately accepted! This music video was inspired on a huge amount of zombie flicks, especially on Zombie (Lucio Fulci), where the lyrics got the main inspiration. It was uploaded 10 months ago and we already have more than 3.700 views. We hope to reach more than 4.000 views on the next two months. We made a special hot-site about the whole Trial of the Undead video production with all the details, pictures and general info. Check it out: www.trialoftheundead.com

Don´t you think you have gone overboard on movie intros for each song? This is like a “Trivial Pursuit” for horror freaks man!

André: No, they are really essential to introduce the flick we’re talking about on the lyrics, we’ll always keep using movie intros on our tracks and it’s also a great form to homage some o four favorite bands and main influences ever!

The cover to your new album is like a blood red collage, tell me about the motifs for it!

André
: Well, we just send to PUTRID the whole movie list that we would homage on the lyrics and he did it all taking a special part of anyone and featuring it all together, PUTRID OWNS!

You are straight into that AUTOPSY thing! What keeps you playing your raw Death/ Grind sound? Never heard of modern, technical Metal-streaming?

Tersis: I never really love these so called Brutal Death Metal nowadays, with a few exceptions. Maybe the genre have evolved in this way, but I’m more into bands that carry that old Death Metal spirit.

What do you think of progressive elements into Grindcore music? Will it ever get a chance in your music? Or will you stay Old School?

Tersis
: We bring some “new” elements on our music, but never losing that old and primitive feeling. You can hear some different ideas here and there, but I think we always will walk these old paths.

Are terms like Old School and Underground just empty phrases for you?

André: No, they are still strong terms to define a genre or a way of work, of course that most of times they aren’t correctly used but I think that there many other important things to think about than a music label or what’s underground or not, we don’t give a shit!

What status has vinyl for you?

Tersis: I really love that unique sound. Also that graphic richness, on every artwork you can see more details. Even on other genres outside Metal, the artwork on vinyl were more conceptual, more important. Now the MP3 generation don’t even bother about this. I think music, lyrics, art, pictures and the whole information is what compose an album. That’s the concept we all grew up knowing. I like other formats like CD, DVD, etc, but I will always support vinyl.

Is OFFAL just a big hobby or is it a real job?

Tersis: For me it is like a big hobby, but understand that everything I do with OFFAL is taken very seriously. I also have other activities as interaction designer and teacher.

Do you like to travel back 20 years in time sometimes, closer to the style of music you play?

Tersis
: Everytime I listen to some albums, is like an time travel. All these nostalgic things, some memories came back, everything is so rich on this music experience... Yes, music is an unique experience! Among other resources like pictures, letters and movies, music is generally the strongest tool I have in my life. We always try to transfer these experiences when composing our songs. I hope we can make it happen!

Tell me something about your preference for European 70s/80s splatter movie icons!

André
: Wohhh, too many to mention but... Italian productions are for sure the best ones!

You catch the atmosphere of these “old” flicks with your music, which is very appropriate I think. How do you do that?

André: I think the way or kind of Death Metal we’re into help us to reach it! Old meets the old and so it works together to reach a great result!

But you also like horror movies like Friday the 13th. Or Return of the Living Dead. I think the US flicks have more humor and clichés, or am I wrong?

André
: Well, not at all I think! Old US B movie productions are really great and are some of the best ones for me. A special example of this are the TROMA’s movies, they really kick-ass and we really want to homage them on some of our upcoming songs, sure!

André, what about your other band LYMPHATIC PHLEGM, is it still alive?

André: LP is totally out of work for a long time ‘coz my band mate Rodrigo Alcântara isn’t living at Curitiba anymore! The band isn’t DEAD but we still haven’t any plans to got back or produce new stuff! We just have some new stuff out now (Split 7”ep with 2 Minuta Dreka) and other ones are planned featuring just some old extra stuff we did at the Show-off Cadavers... recording sessions.

Last spot is yours!

Tersis: Thanks a lot for your support. I invite you all to access our official website (www.offalgore.com) or our MySpace (www.myspace.com/offalxxx). On these channels, you will find more information about Offal. Keep checking it, because we’re always updating with some news and cool stuff.
